CHARLO, N.B. – This year’s Summer Splash Festival has joined forces with Les Aventuriers de Charlo ski club to add the club’s annual run to its calendar of events.
Entering its fifth year, the run features a 10K, 5K and a 1K children’s run, and will take place at the beach in Charlo on Sunday, July 16.
For the past four years the event has taken place at the ski facility, which hosts four seasons of outdoor activities.
“It’s our first time doing it with the festival, so we’re not sure what to expect,” said Denise Fontaine, of Les Aventuriers de Charlo.

The fifth annual Les Aventuriers Run will take place in Charlo, N.B. on Sunday, July 16, this year in conjunction with the annual Summer Splash Festival. Shown here are participants in the 2015 run hosted at the ski club.

. “A lot of people are excited about it, but some, who have been coming for the past four years, are sad that it’s not here because they’re used to the trails.”
The family-friendly event aims to promote physical activity among all age groups. In recent years, it has taken place in August. Breakfast will be offered between 9 a.m. and noon.
The course this year will feature a mixture of asphalt and crusher dust trail.
“We usually have around 100 people,” said Fontaine. “Hopefully we’ll have around the same again this year.”
